A man's name is Rudolph, and since he is Russian, people call him "Rudolph the Red." Rudolph looks out the window and says to his wife, "Oh look honey, it's raining outside." She begs to differ, "No, I think that's snow." He looks at her and says: "Rudolph the red knows rain dear."
Gary and Bill staggered out of their company's Christmas party in New York City. Bill crossed the street, while Gary stumbled in to a subway entrance. When Bill reached the other side, he noticed Gary emerging from the subway stairs. "Where've you been?" Bill slurred. "I don't know," replied Gary, "but you should see the train set that guy has in his basement!"

Jungle (an old favorite of mine)
I was standing in the jungle, I was feeling alright
I was wandering in the darkness, in the middle of the night
The moon began to shine, I saw a clearing ahead
But what's that going on? I think I'm out of my head!
A hundred animals were gathered 'round that night
They were singing out a lovely song under the pale moonlight
I stood and stared for quite a while, then a lion sang to me and smiled:
"Come and join us if you so desire."
I said now please explain the meaning of this song you sing
"Wondrous is our great blue ship that sails around the mighty sun
And joy to everyone who rides along!"
Pretty soon I knew the tune
We sat and sang under the moon
And the jungle rang in joyful harmony!

John Lennon quote
"It's no good us preaching at people and saying don't take them, because that doesn't work. It's like the church telling you not to drink or not to have sex when you're young, there's nothing on earth gonna do it. But if people take any note of what we say, we say we've been through the drug scene, man, and there's nothing like being straight! But you need hope, and hope is something that you have to build up within yourself."

Monty Python's Graham Chapman
"Graham Chapman was one sixth of the legendary Monty Python’s Flying Circus team. Chapman developed his comedy genius and a love for gin and tonic while studying medicine at Cambridge University. Upon qualifying as a doctor he went on to prove that laughter was the best medicine by writing comedy for the likes of Ronnie Corbett, Marty Feldmen and David Frost. In 1969 Doctor Chapman and the rest of the Python’s hit TV screens for the first time and a whole menagerie of surreal characters were launched onto an unsuspecting world. Chapman was the king of surreal comedy and apparently attended a speaking engagement in a giant carrot costume. He stood on stage for ten minutes before exiting without saying a word! Chapman’s drinking accelerated during the seventies but he quit the bottle in 1977. Sadly he died in 1989 of throat cancer. His ashes were blasted into space in a rocket a fitting tribute to a giant of surreal comedy and gin consumption!"

Filthy Old Drunkie
"There was nothing I hated more than to see a filthy old drunkie, a-howling away at the filthy songs of his fathers and going blurp blurp in between as if it were a filthy old orchestra in his stinking rotten guts. I could never stand to see anyone like that, especially when they were old..."

Relationships with Alcoholics
"I am grateful for all the relationships I have had with alcoholics. They’ve often been painful but… always, the connection has left me with an appreciation for the complexities of human character, and an awareness of the fear some sensitive people feel..."

Alcohol Movie Cliches
- Only men are alcoholics. Any hopeless alcoholic can quit drinking when faced with an important challenge. The instant the alcoholic stops drinking, all his faculties return and he faces no annoying withdrawals.
- Every time some guy walks into a bar, usually the hero, he gets into a fight. Usually right under a Budweiser sign (see "product placement"). Likelihood of fight increases if country music is playing in the background.
- Movie heroes in a bar will either order strong alcoholic drinks and swallow them down like iced tea or will ask for milk. The latter will always provoke sarcastic remarks and a fight will ensue.
- When men drink whiskey, it is always in a shot glass, and they always drink it in one gulp. If they are wimps, they will gasp for air, then have a coughing fit. If they are macho, they will wince briefly, flashing clenched teeth.
- A cup of black coffee/splash of cold water in face is enough to render the most inebriated person stone cold sober in a split second (see several thousand westerns).
